Our story
The Indigenous Youth Empowerment Project has been active in Oklahoma City for over forty years. Sustained through the dedication and commitment of volunteers, IYEP's work has often remained behind the scenes — but its impact has continued to grow, establishing a strong foundation that led to the development of Closer to Earth (CTE) and Native Farming Solutions (NFS).
Today, IYEP is entering a renewed phase of growth, bringing together these two distinct initiatives under its umbrella. As the organization continues to evolve, efforts are underway to expand opportunities and create meaningful programs and resources that support youth and families throughout Oklahoma City.
Our flagship food sovereignty program, Native Farming Solutions, grows traditional Indigenous foods and medicines and teaches ancestral cultivation across Oklahoma City. Closer to Earth connects young people to environmental stewardship and cultural learning through hands-on experience.
