Who is IYEP?+
The Indigenous Youth Empowerment Project has served Oklahoma City for over forty years, powered almost entirely by volunteers. We bring together our initiatives — Closer to Earth and Native Farming Solutions — to support youth and families through hands-on learning.
How can I volunteer?+
No experience is needed and all ages are welcome. Garden days happen most Saturdays during the growing season — bring water and a hat. Send us a message through the form above or email vandrews@iyepokc.org and we'll get you plugged in.
Where do you work?+
We're based in Oklahoma City, with gardens and community projects across the metro area. If you'd like to bring a project or workshop to your school, church, or neighborhood, reach out — we love new partners.
What is Native Farming Solutions?+
NFS is IYEP's program growing traditional Indigenous foods and medicines while strengthening the local Native community. It includes community gardens, harvest events, and composting initiatives throughout Oklahoma City.
What is Closer to Earth?+
Closer to Earth is IYEP's youth-focused initiative, connecting young people to the land through gardening, composting, and environmental stewardship — building skills, confidence, and community along the way.
How do I donate?+
One-time gifts of $5, $10, $25, or $50 can be made securely through our donation page. Every dollar goes directly toward gardens, youth programs, and community events.
Do you host events I can attend?+
Yes! From volunteer appreciation socials to food sovereignty gatherings and the Winter Solstice Social, there's usually something coming up. Check the Events page for dates, times, and locations.
Can you speak at or attend our event?+
We'd be glad to. Whether it's a school club, community group, or conference, send us a note with the date and details and we'll see what we can do.
